The National Design Centre (NDC) is located in the Bras Basah-Bugis area. The centre brings new life to a historical building that used to be home to a convent school. We were proud to be awarded the project to equip the auditorium, boardroom and atrium with the latest AV system. In addition, all meeting rooms are equipped with projection system.

Auditorium
The old chapel has been transformed to an auditorium. It is the only room that blends the new and the old world seamlessly. The crucifix and marble pedestal is part of the original building; the decorative ceiling panels, LED lights and retractable seats add the modern touch. When put together, the auditorium is indeed a breath taking room. Equally breath taking is the Audio Visual System we designed for this room. A 6000 ANSI lumens projector will project onto the 4.8 metre wide motorised screen. The visual impact is simply awesome; bright and vivid projection even in this well lit room. It is also possible to present documents, videos and pictures wirelessly to the projection system via any iOS, Android, Mac or PC.
The audio system is hidden from view completely. The main speaker is a narrow design column speaker with twelve 2” full range drivers. Two 8”sub-woofers bring up the low-end with its rich and powerful bass. All speakers are mounted inconspicuously behind the decorative grille. Full range 8” speakers are located toward the rear of the auditorium to serve as fills-in. With these speakers well positioned and the system aligned, the audio is rich and deep, where every seat in the house is a good seat. Four wireless microphones completes the audio system.
A iPad based control system allows the user wireless control over the entire AV system. Pressing a single icon will bring the system to life. Selecting different input sources, volume control and even certain projector features can all be carried out on the iPad.

Boardroom
The main speakers is a 6” full range speaker complemented with 5.25” full range ceiling mounted speakers. An iPad mini with customised icons is the main user interface and control the operations of the AV system. Computer presentations are easily switchable between the floor mount receptacles and via a wireless interface. The heart of the audio system is the digital matrix mixer and using the Automatic Level Control (ALC) feature will regulate the audio level automatically.

Atrium
The large open space at the ground level is often used as an exhibition area or move in a portable stage to host Product launches. Four 10” full range speakers, PX110mkII, are wall mounted to provide even coverage throughout the atrium. The 10” 2-way full range speakers provide the right power output to fill the entire atrium.

A portable sound system on a flight case is wheeled in and connects to the speakers through a wall mount receptacles. Two wireless microphones allow freedom of movement throughout the atrium. The mobile equipment consists of a top-mount 12 channel audio mixer, digital amplifiers and a CD/ MP3 player.

Our approach to system design is to always keep the user in mind. Our company’s motto ’Keeping It Simple’ ensures our system is easily operable.
